Claire Sirmulis
Claire stated, as well as being in private practice I also work for a local Mental Health Charity Dorset Mind. The charity has given me lots of different roles around mental health from working as Young Person Befriending Co-ordinator and a young person's counsellor and more recently becoming the Counselling Lead and Supervisor for trainee counsellors within the organisation. I also manage the eating disorder service, Restored.
I have personal experience with family members who have experienced lots of mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, OCD, and self-harming behaviours as well as living with life-changing health conditions. These experiences, the understanding they have given me, as well as experience from my previous careers have all enhanced my knowledge and ability in my counselling career.
Prior to and whilst completing my counselling training I was working in a family support role both for the local authority and then in schools. I am an accredited parenting group facilitator for two evidence-based parenting programs, and I have delivered numerous parenting groups. I have a good understanding of the effects that poor parenting can have on an individual.
I am experienced and specialised in working with Young People, Parents, and Adults, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES), Anxiety & Depression, Bereavement, Chronic Illnesses, Family Groups Dynamics, Relationships and Self-harming as well as Trauma & Suicidal Ideation
