Claire stated, as well as being in private practice I also work for a local Mental Health Charity Dorset Mind, stated that the charity has given me lots of different roles around mental health from working as Young Person Befriending Co-ordinator and a young person’s counsellor and more recently becoming the Counselling Lead and Supervisor for trainee counsellors within the organisation.
I have experience of living with a family member who has experienced lots of mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, OCD, and self-harming as well as living with a life-changing health condition, with these experiences and understanding they have given me, and with my previous careers supported me in my counselling training.
Prior to and whilst completing my counselling training I was working in a family support role both for the local authority and then in schools. I am an accredited parenting group facilitator for two evidence-based parenting programs, and I have delivered numerous parenting groups. I have a good understanding of the effects that poor parenting can have on an individual.
I am experienced and specialised in working with Young People, Parents and Adults, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES), Anxiety & Depression, Bereavement, Chronic Illnesses, Family Groups Dynamics, Relationships and Self-harming as well as Trauma & Suicidal Ideation
