Colin has over 30 years of emergency experience and assists emergency services as a TRIM volunteer. Part of his role as a Trauma Risk assessor is supporting police staff who have been exposed to possible traumatic event or events., as well as through general life pressures and common mental health issues. He also works with Dorset Mind as a freelance Trauma counsellor.

Colin says "As someone may be seen as macho and alpha male. , I have personally experienced challenging anxiety-driven low times, and, met many people in the uniformed services who have suffered from everything to depression, low self-esteem and addiction issues, and therefore a realization that a uniform is no barrier or protection to mental health challenges and illnesses."

Colin works primarily in a person-centered way, he has a natural emphatic style and likes to encourage clients that sometimes the best solution to poor or challenging mental health is to focus and fill life space with a positive forward-thinking approach and embrace positive experiences. This is coupled with the acceptance that to move forward in life, sometimes we have to ensure that the past is safely packed away and understood.
