Emma Inglis: Counsellor
Emma Inglis is a qualified Integrative Humanistic counsellor, specialising in person-centred, existential, and transactional analysis approaches. Her practice is informed by both professional training and lived experience, enabling her to support individuals facing a wide range of mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, OCD, neurodiversity, self-harm, adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), and chronic health conditions.
With a personal history of anxiety from childhood and a later diagnosis of ADHD, Emma brings a unique perspective to her work. Her understanding of neurodiversity is not only theoretical but grounded in her own journey, allowing her to connect authentically with clients who may feel misunderstood or isolated. This insight fosters a therapeutic environment where clients feel seen, heard, and valued.
Emma’s professional background includes extensive experience within the NHS, where she has provided compassionate support to individuals aged 16 and over. She has worked with clients presenting a variety of mental health concerns, tailoring her approach to meet the specific needs of each person. Her work in the NHS has honed her ability to navigate complex emotional landscapes and offer practical, empathetic guidance.
In addition to her NHS role, Emma has contributed to the charity sector as a volunteer counsellor. For the past two years, she has supported a bereavement service, offering emotional care to patients living with life-limiting illnesses and to those coping with loss. This experience has deepened her understanding of grief and resilience, equipping her to assist clients through some of life’s most challenging transitions.
Emma is committed to collaborative practice. She values the individuality of each client, recognising that every person’s experiences and needs are distinct. Her counselling style is flexible and client-led, emphasising joint decision-making and mutual respect. By fostering a partnership with her clients, Emma ensures that therapeutic goals are aligned with their personal values and aspirations.
Her passion for mental health support is rooted in her belief in the transformative power of a safe, non-judgemental space. Emma understands, from personal experience, the importance of having someone to talk to during difficult times. She strives to create an environment where clients can explore their thoughts and feelings openly, without fear of criticism or dismissal.
Emma is dedicated to ongoing professional development. She considers herself a lifelong learner, continually seeking opportunities to expand her knowledge and refine her skills. This commitment ensures that her practice remains current and responsive to the evolving needs of her clients.
By integrating evidence-based techniques with empathy and authenticity, Emma offers a counselling service that is both professional and deeply personal. Her approach is designed to empower individuals, helping them to navigate mental health challenges and achieve greater wellbeing.
