Pregnancy and Fertility Counselling
Supporting emotional wellbeing through fertility challenges and pregnancy
Pregnancy and fertility journeys can be exciting and joyful, but they can also bring unexpected stress, uncertainty, or emotional challenges. Many people experience worry, sadness, disappointment, or anxiety during fertility treatment, pregnancy, or following pregnancy loss.
At Poole Therapies, we offer compassionate counselling for individuals and couples navigating these experiences. Sessions provide a safe, non-judgemental space to explore emotions, process experiences, and build emotional resilience.
When Counselling May Help
You may seek support if you are experiencing:
- Fertility challenges or undergoing treatment
- Anxiety, fear, or worry around conception or pregnancy
- Emotional distress following miscarriage, stillbirth, or pregnancy loss
- Pregnancy-related stress, low mood, or adjustment challenges
- Concerns around parenting, birth plans, or bonding with your baby
- Feelings of isolation or pressure from yourself or others
Counselling is for anyone affected, whether you are actively trying to conceive, pregnant, or adjusting after birth or loss.
Our Approach
Our therapists work in a person-centred, empathetic, and trauma-informed way. We recognise that everyone’s fertility and pregnancy experience is unique, and there is no “right” way to feel.
Therapy may involve:
- Exploring emotions around fertility and pregnancy
- Supporting coping with uncertainty and anxiety
- Building emotional resilience and self-compassion
- Navigating relationships and communication with partners or family
- Processing grief, loss, or disappointment
Sessions move at your pace and are shaped around your individual needs.
Couples and Family Support
We recognise that fertility and pregnancy affect not just the individual, but relationships too. Where appropriate, therapy can include:
- Couple-focused sessions
- Communication support between partners
- Guidance on coping together with stress and uncertainty
All sessions are grounded in empathy, confidentiality, and respect.
Taking the First Step
Counselling can provide a confidential, supportive space to talk about your experiences and emotions, whether you are preparing for pregnancy, undergoing fertility treatment, or adjusting after pregnancy or loss.
You do not need to be in crisis to seek support. Reaching out is a positive step towards emotional wellbeing.
